When and Where It Happens

Each spring and fall season, Live After 5 draws crowds at Galvez Plaza in downtown Baton Rouge. The walkable, central location is perfect for catching a show after work and introducing visitors to the city's music scene.

The series typically runs for six weeks each season every Friday night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., giving you plenty of opportunities to experience the fun. Stay tuned for fall 2026 dates!

What to Expect

Live After 5 features a rotating lineup of regional artists across genres. You can expect to hear everything from rock and blues to Zydeco and cover bands, with a new act most weeks.

The crowd skews toward downtown workers stopping by after their shifts, as well as families and visitors looking for something to do downtown on a Friday night.

Seating is first-come on the lawn, so plan to bring your own chair or blanket if you want a spot close to the stage. Local restaurants and food trucks set up around the plaza, and beverage sales (21+ with valid ID) help fund the series.

Know Before You Go

Parking: Public garages and street parking are available within walking distance of Galvez Plaza.
Seating: Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. Space fills up, especially near the stage. Note that umbrellas and tents are not permitted.
Food & Drink: Local food trucks and vendors are on-site; concessions are not included with free admission.
Weather: Severe weather may impact the show, causing delays or postponing or canceling the event. Refer to the Live After 5 Facebook page for updates.
Pets: Baton Rouge city ordinance does not allow dogs at public gatherings on city property, so dogs are not allowed at Live After 5.
