Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Foundation Relocates Golf Classic from Lake Charles to Baton Rouge, Oct. 18-19, 2020

Presented by Relief Windows to Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, LA – October 15, 2020 As a result of the devastation Hurricane Laura had on Louisiana, particularly Southwest Louisiana and Lake Charles, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Foundation has relocated its 2020 Golf Classic Presented by Relief Windows to Baton Rouge.

This two-day event was slated for Sunday, Oct. 4 and Monday, Oct. 5 at the Golden Nugget - Lake Charles, but has now been rescheduled to Sunday, Oct. 18 and Monday, Oct. 19 in Baton Rouge, said LSHOF Foundation CEO/President Ronnie Rantz. The tournament weekend falls when the LSU football team is away, playing at Florida, and is a bye week for the New Orleans Saints.

On Oct. 18 festivities begin with the evening Pairings Party at the beautiful L'Auberge Hotel and Casino Baton Rouge- Rooftop Pool. Thanks to the title sponsor, Relief Windows, and the event’s corporate partner, L'Auberge Hotel and Casino Baton Rouge, the party will feature an open bar, food stations, as well as passed hor d'oeuvres, a $25,000 putting contest, a raffle, a live and silent auction, music by GEAUX DJ, and a chance to meet Louisiana sports legends.

On Oct. 19, the second annual LSHOF Foundation Golf Classic Presented by Relief Windows tees off at The University Club Golf Course, home of the LSU Tigers golf teams. Teams of three golfers can be paired with a Louisiana sports celebrity or four-person team entries are also available. The tournament will feature on-course food and drink stations with breakfast provided prior to the start of the tournament, a LSHOF golf polo shirt and other gifts, the $25,000 putting contest, along with prizes for long drive, closest to the pin, hole in one, top three teams, and more on-course surprises to come, said Rantz.

“Although the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Foundation has had events postponed by the coronavirus pandemic and Hurricane Laura, with the help of our incredible sponsors, we are confident and excited that the 2020 Golf Classic Presented by Relief Windows is going to be a great success benefitting our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization,” said Rantz.

“At each event, the LSHOF Foundation will have donation stations set up for Hurricane Laura relief efforts,” he said, “and we will be accepting any form of donations which will be distributed throughout the affected areas, particularly Southwest Louisiana and Lake Charles, who have been incredibly supportive to the LSHOF throughout the years,

“We are eager to pick back with our events and to see everyone soon,” said Rantz.

The Hall of Fame’s annual summer Induction Festival in June was postponed and the Class of 2020 will be enshrined during festivities Dec. 15-17 in Natchitoches. The Golf Classic was initially set for early April, but was twice postponed.
