Fifolet Halloween Festival brings eerie Cajun folklore to life

10/31 Consortium’s annual event includes parade, arts market, 5K and more

Baton Rouge, LA – It’s officially fall. In south Louisiana, that means it’s time for college football, (slightly) cooler weather and plenty of autumnal traditions. For local Halloween-themednon-profit 10/31 Consortium, it means the return of its Fifolet Halloween Festival, which aims to create new fall traditions for Capital City residents and visitors alike through a haunting weekend filled with lively events and Cajun flair.

Named after the legend of the fifolet – a glowing blue orb from Cajun folklore said to lure unsuspecting souls deep into the bayous and swamps of Louisiana – the Fifolet Halloween Festival beckons all to downtown Baton Rouge for a Halloween parade, arts market, 5K and more. This year, the event will be held October 27 – 30.

“Just like our passion for Halloween, our passion for Louisiana culture runs deep,” said Kelley Stein, co-founder of 10/31 Consortium and 2022 Fifolet Halloween Festival Chair. “It’s been amazing to watch the Festival grow over the years. We’re proud to offer one of the state’s largest community Halloween celebrations.”

Past Fifolet Halloween Festivals have seen weekend attendance as high as 30,000 visitors eager for its spooky offerings. This year marks the return of the Festival in its full form after two years of modified versions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 10/31 Consortium is ready for the crowds, offering a loaded weekend lineup including:

●Fifolet Pub Crawl on Thursday, October 27

Join the horde in search of booze and brains at this zombie-themed pub crawl!

●Fifolet Halloween Ball on Friday, October 28

●Fifolet Arts Market on Saturday, October 29

●Fifolet Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 29 (rolls at 4 p.m.)

Floats, dancers and costumed characters throw candy to the crowd! Bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank truck as it leads the parade!

●Fifolet Awards Brunch on Sunday, October 30

Cheer on the Fifolet Halloween Festival winners at our closing ceremony with bottomless mimosas and bloody Marys!

The parade and arts market are free to attend. Tickets for the other events – including registering a float or securing a single-rider spot for the parade – are on sale now at fifolet.com. 10/31 Consortium is offering an All-Access Pass this year as well, which can get attendees entry into every event and contest for one discounted price. From now through September 30, attendees can get 10 percent off the All-Access Pass with the promocode “fall2022.”

The theme for the 2022 Festival is “Fifolet’s Believe It or Not.”

"We are incredibly excited to sponsor this year's Fifolet Halloween Festival,” said Heather Gaudin, Marketing Director for WAFB. “10/31 Consortium's philosophy of service directly aligns with WAFB's commitment to serve the community. We are proud to partner with them again to help spread the word about this spooky good Festival."

In addition to the Fifolet Halloween Festival, 10/31 Consortium works to fulfill its mission to ensure every child has a safe and happy Halloween through its annual Costume and Candy Drive, assisting local neighborhoods in hosting safe and fun trick or treating, delivering goodie bags to kids at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital and helping other area non-profits like the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.

“We have been involved with the Festival since its inception,” said Randy Rice of Randy Rice & Associates, 2022 Fifolet Halloween Festival sponsor. “10/31 Consortium has given so much back to the community over the years and it’s a pleasure to join forces with them again this year.”

Led by a dedicated krewe and Board of Directors, 10/31 Consortium names a Royal Court each year for the Fifolet Halloween Festival. 2022 honorees include:

  • King - Lance Parker
