Baton Rouge secures ranking among “America’s Best Cities”

BATON ROUGE, La. – Baton Rouge has been named as one of “America’s Best Cities” by WorldsBestCities.com and Resonance Consultancy, coming in at #89 on the list of the top 100 cities in the country.

Resonance, a leading advisor in tourism, real estate and economic development for more than 15 years, included U.S. cities in the annual report with populations of 500,000 people or more. The rankings are based on factors that affect daily life such as walkability, recreational opportunities, job attraction, nightlife experiences, quality restaurants and overall culture.

“I am so proud of Baton Rouge’s recognition as one of America’s Best Cities,” said Jill Kidder, president and CEO of Visit Baton Rouge. “Being #89 on this list is a huge accomplishment for our city and should not be overlooked. This achievement reflects the efforts made by the entire community and we are honored to play a role in shaping the city we all call home.”

Baton Rouge also earned two scores of 61 and 78 for promotion and programming respectively. Promotion performance is based on the number of stories, references and recommendations shared online about that city while programming measures the experiential pillars of a great visit: food, shows, shopping and nightlife.

"It's an honor to see Baton Rouge recognized on such a prestigious list, a testament to the spirit, resilience, and vibrancy of our city and its residents,” said Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome. “From our rich culture to our world-class university, every corner of our community has contributed to this accolade. Our city's diversity, unique culinary scene, and the heart of our people are what truly make Baton Rouge one of America's best. Let's continue to shine and make our mark, not just nationally, but globally."

The eighth annual ranking highlighted Baton Rouge’s diverse community of residents as well as being the home of Louisiana’s flagship university. Notable local eateries including Sammy's Grill on Highland, as well as newcomers like Supper Club and Spoke & Hub, also received special mentions in Baton Rouge’s profile.

“We are thrilled to be listed as one of America’s best cities, and we plan to continue building upon that title,” said Adam Knapp, Baton Rouge Area Chamber president & CEO. “We know that a strong economy lends itself to more livability investments, and a notable quality of life helps attract new businesses and talent to a region. This ranking shows our strengths in both. Highlighting not only our celebration culture and emerging culinary scene, it also calls out our over $11 billion of recently announced industrial projects, which has led to tremendous job growth in the area.”
