Annual Battle of Baton Rouge guided tour

Blue, Gray & Bayous, Louisiana's only tour operator dedicated entirely to Civil War heritage tourism, conducts their annual Battle of Baton Rouge guided tour on Saturday, August 5, 2023.

This is a rare opportunity not only to guests to go on the only guided Battle of Baton Rouge guided tour offered, but to do so on the actual anniversary date of the battle; August 5th.

Guests will stand in the actual location of where the battle took place 161 years later on the same day and time as the battle raged in 1862.

"Blue, Gray & Bayous takes pride in promoting Louisiana's Civil War history", says Nic Clark, owner of Blue, Gray & Bayous "and the Battle of Baton Rouge, although small by Civil War battle standards, played a very significant role in the Union efforts to gain control of the Mississippi River.

And this year marks the 160th anniversary of the surrender of Port Hudson, but there could have been no Port Hudson if not for the Battle of Baton Rouge."

This year's guided Battle of Baton Rouge tour starts at 9:00 a.m. from the Old State Capital, in downtown Baton Rouge, and ends at 12:00 p.m.
