Day 1
DAY 1 | BREAKFAST
There’s no better way to kick off your trip than with a stop at Zeeland Street Market! Nestled in the heart of the Garden District, this spot is a favorite among locals. The breakfast menu offers a wide selection, with specials such as the Zeeland Slam, as well as omelets, breakfast sandwiches and flapjacks. Zeeland Street’s menu also extends to lunch, with many comfort food options and daily specials to choose from if you don’t make it in time for breakfast.
DAY 1 | COFFEE BREAK
While you’re likely to be dangerously full after eating a full spread at Zeeland Street Market, we know there’s nothing like a post-meal pick-me-up. Head on over to French Truck Coffee, where you can order traditional coffee drinks you know and love or opt for their famous New Orleans iced coffee – a dark roast cold brew with chicory and milk.
DAY 1 | LUNCH
Pro-Tip: Wear the stretchy pants! Did you know that Baton Rouge is home to the largest seafood market in the Gulf South? Lucky for you (and us), Tony’s has a deli with a hotline, where you can buy all the fried seafood your heart could dream of, as well as other plate lunch options, such as hamburger steak and red beans and rice.
DAY 1 | DINNER
Located in downtown Baton Rouge, Cocha has some of the freshest food you can find with its locally-sourced menu! This farm-to-table restaurant offers globally inspired menu items that you quite literally cannot find anywhere else in the city and continues to experiment with items from local farmers. We recommend starting with a wine country board to pair with a seasonal cocktail or glass of wine from their extensive list.
Day 2
Day 2 | BREAKFAST
We’ll let you in on a little hidden gem – Simple Joe Café’s breakfast. This Mid City spot is so popular among locals, a line trickling out the door isn’t unusual for a Saturday or Sunday morning in Baton Rouge. Start your day at this lowkey breakfast joint and make sure to order the iced coffee, complete with coffee ice cubes so your coffee is never watered down!
DAY 2 | COFFEE BREAK
A trip to Baton Rouge isn’t complete without at least one stop at Coffee Call for their freshly brewed café au lait and world-famous beignet fingers! This Baton Rouge staple has been serving up these sweet treats for over 20 years and is a favorite among both visitors and locals.
DAY 2 | LUNCH
Chow Yum Phat
Located under the Perkins Overpass, Chow Yum Phat has taken inspiration from flavors from all throughout Asian and brought them together to create whimsical dishes and appetizers based on Asian street food and giving it a Southern twist. During the spring, you can’t go wrong with their VietCajun crawfish, but the ramen and bao buns never miss, either.
DAY 2 | DINNER
Louisiana Lagniappe is only open for dinner, which means it must be worth it. Creating crab, oysters, crawfish, shrimp and fresh fish any way you can dream of, this restaurant was voted Best of 225 in 2022 for its seafood dishes for a reason.
