Reset, Relax, Shop

On a slow weekend morning, I like a little quiet time to reset. Sometimes that means soaking in the sights and sounds of the Mississippi River from the Bluffs at Southern University. But, I also don't mind starting my day with a little retail therapy by strolling the botanic section for decor inspiration at Red Onion, checking out the latest jewelry at MIMOSA Handcrafted, or enjoying a relaxing pedicure and glass of champagne at ZAZA Nail Boutique.

Baton Rouge is no stranger to friendly competition. Catch me cheering on the Southern University Jaguars baseball team during a nice spring day, or, when I’m feeling up to some competition of my own, working on my swing at TopGolf.

Nothing beats ending the day with a world-class dinner at one of Baton Rouge's fabulous restaurants. French Market Bistro's extensive wine list and ambiance make it a fine dining staple on the south side of Baton Rouge, while Cocha downtown takes the cake for unique international flavors and a seasonally changing menu. Whatever you're in the mood for, Baton Rouge has it.
