Wearin' of the Green - Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade & Legendary Festivities

The first Wearin' of the Green, St Patrick's Day Parade rolled on March 13, 1986. Parade History in the making. Antique cars, convertibles, twirlers, scouts, close friends and family made their way down to Zee Zee Gardens pub from City Park Golf Course making its way to the Perkins Overpass area.

Blessed with a sunny day, Pat Shingleton, a local Irish legend, began his day with an Irish breakfast and started his annual tradition of walking with Mabyn, his wife, and family at the end of the parade.

This is how the lore of the "Wearin of the Green" parade began to crystallize. You'll find this family friendly parade rich with green & white customized Mardi Gras beads and much Irish luck of shennanigans GOOD times.

The festivities also include Greening Baton Rouge, the Shamrock Run, Bag Pipers, Scotish & Irish Groups and other iconic traditions. Recognized as one of the best St. Parick's Day Parade and celebrations in the US.
