Preserve Louisiana is the adminstrator of the Old Governor's Mansion.
Preserve Louisiana (formerly the Foundation for Historical Louisiana) was founded in November of 1963 with the purpose of promoting local interest in the heritage of Baton Rouge and the state of Louisiana. Preserve Louisiana uses today's resources to preserve the treasures of yesterday and improve the quality of tomorrow.
About the Old Governor's Mansion:
Built in 1930, by Governor Huey P. Long, as Louisiana’s White House complete with dazzling East Room, second floor Oval Office and beautiful Rose Garden. Docent-guided tours of the Georgian-style landmark, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, include unique memorabilia and fascinating stories from the remarkable times of The Kingfish, Governor Jimmie Davis (known worldwide for the song, You Are My Sunshine) and Governor Earl K. Long (portrayed by Paul Newman in the movie Blaze). Special events booking for receptions and history-making weddings.
