Independence Community Park, a BREC Facility

One of BREC’s most popular and busiest parks because of the number of facilities available. The park has a recreation center, tennis center, shuffleboard area for senior citizens, soccer fields, ball diamonds, model airplane field, handicapped playground area, Botanic Gardens and Garden Center, the Garden Cafe, picnic facilities, a children’s forest theatre, walking trail and Liberty Lagoon, a premiere water park. Independence Botanical Gardens - public garden dedicated to horticultural education, recreation and nature studies. Owned and managed by the Baton Rouge Garden Club.

Liberty Lagoon- premiere waterpark featuring water slides, lazy river, swimming pool, beach volleyball and party rentals
Independence Park Theatre - IPT's proscenium theatre has a seating capacity of 800 with state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment. In addition, the theatre has two smaller conference rooms that can accommodate groups of 50-100.
Tennis Center - pro shop, lighted courts, racquet stringing, instruction, racquet and ball machines rentals, two indoor courts and a hitting wall.
