The Crown Jewel of Louisiana's River Road. Mansion construction was completed in 1828. The mansion has a heroically-columned Greek Revival exterior topped by a belvedere that surveyed the Oak alley leading south to the sweeping bend in the Mississippi and the miles and miles of cane fields to the north and east. Plantation grounds include a gift shop, café, elegant fine dining restaurant, meeting rooms and a garden. The 38-acre garden of indigenous Louisiana plant life and stunning exotics designed to beckon visitors to extend their stay. Many TV series episodes, Soap Opera location shoots, television commercials and a variety of other projects that required consummate plantation visuals have been filmed at Houmas House. Mansion tours available everyday 9am-7pm. Closed Christmas Day and New Years Day. Handicap Accessible
