Bring a picnic and enjoy a special day on the Old State Capitol grounds from 1-4 P.M. Sunday, May 5. Enjoy old-fashioned games and challenges, historical characters, a special re-dedication of the building honoring veterans, a sing-a-long lead by students of the School of Visual and Performing Arts and more.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the restoration and reopening of the Old State Capitol under the direction of the Secretary of State’s office. A public picnic was held when it closed in 1991 and another celebration held when it reopened in 1994.
The museum’s latest exhibits will be on display including the newest permanent exhibit, “Castle on the River” and a last chance adventure into the basement to see a replica of a Civil War cell where prisoners were held.
This event is free and open to the public, rain or shine. For more information please visit our website, www.louisianaoldstatecapitol.org or call 225-342-0500.
