This class, for all experience levels, will focus on widely used rhythmic structures found in the popular and folkloric music of South and North America. We’ll use those structures to create melodic rhythms that can be played alone, in a band, or with a large ensemble or drum circle. This class is designed for: people who enjoy group drumming, people who want to incorporate percussion into a band, people who want to play drums for their friends to dance to, and people who want to try new instruments and learn about Caribbean and Latin percussion traditions. Congas, surdos, djembe, bells, shakers, you name it. Instruments will be provided or you may bring your own.

Ages 14 and up.
