The Louisiana Art & Science Museum’s 33rd annual gala is set for 7:30-10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5 at the museum’s downtown location. This year’s gala theme is “In Motion,” which coincides with the museum’s exhibition “Lin Emery: A Force of Nature.” Guests will enjoy captivating artwork, live music, a silent auction and a buffet prepared by some of Baton Rouge’s finest restaurants and caterers.
Along with the exhibit, “In Motion” is an homage to 92-year-old New Orleans artist Lin Emery and her striking style of kinetic sculpture. Her renowned work features gleaming, polished aluminum shapes set in motion by wind, water or magnets. The result is a beautiful and breathtaking combination of art and science.
The gala’s trademark silent auction is back and chock full of unique treasures. And crowd favorite Ned Fasullo and The Fabulous Big Band Orchestra will be back to keep everyone dancing.
The annual gala is the Art & Science Museum’s only fundraising event, providing critical support for its educational outreach. These programs offer out-of-classroom, hands-on experiences for local students and the opportunity to discover how art and science work together to inform their lives.
