Preserve Louisiana will host its monthly Heritage Lecture with author, Katherine Bentley Jeffrey, on Two Civil Wars, The Curious Shared Journal of a Baton Rouge Schoolgirl and a Union Sailor on the USS Essex.

Two Civil Wars, The Curious Shared Journal of a Baton Rouge Schoolgirl and a Union Sailor on the USS Essex combines the decorated journal entries of a 13-year old midcentury schoolgirl, Celeste Repp, with a journal kept by William L. Park of the U.S. gunboat Essex during the American Rebellion.

Jeffrey's will give an account of the two remarkable personal journals and reveal the mystery of how a young southerner’s school journal found its way into the hands of a Union sailor.

Refreshments from Calandro’s Fine Wines and Spirits are served at 6:00 p.m. and the lecture begins at 6:30 p.m. Heritage Lectures are sponsored in part of Watermark Baton Rouge
