Authentic oysters will be the fare this summer at the very first Baton Rouge Oyster Fest brought to you by Jolie Pearl Oyster Bar. BR Oyster Fest is a festival that pays homage to the legacy of oysters as both a coastal asset and culinary delight. The Festival will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Galvez Plaza in downtown Baton Rouge.
Organizers have invited food vendors from throughout South Louisiana to share in the celebration of one of Louisiana’s truly delectable experiences. The Festival will include numerous exciting events including an Oyster Shucking Competition, an Oyster Eating Competition, and an Oyster Cookoff.
A highlight of the Festival is the first-class musical lineup supporting this worthy event. Headlining this year’s Festival will be the Spin Doctors along with other well-known acts to include The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Werewolf, and Parish County Line.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing a fun new festival to the Baton Rouge area and we’re honored to showcase one of Louisiana’s true culinary jewels,” said Festival Spokesperson, Eric Carnegie. “With our year-round harvesting and strong Community commitment, we’re confident that the festival will generate awareness of the efforts CCA undertakes on behalf of our coastal fisheries and reefs. We can’t wait to celebrate with our Community, so come on out, soak up the sun, enjoy delicious food and beverages and take in some great tunes!”
The Festival marks a monumental achievement for Downtown Baton Rouge and the Baton Rouge area oyster culinary scene as well. With nearly a dozen restaurants highlighting oysters, the Festival is sure to flourish and continue to grow as people enjoy a Louisiana treasure.
