Festival of Lights 'Lite' - Virtual Tree Lighting

Downtown Festival of Lights Presented by Downtown Development District, The City of Baton Rouge, and the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge

Let's kick-off the holiday season with the Downtown Festival of Light 'Lite' a virtual event! Some things have changed, but you can still experience the magic of the holidays with a virtual lighting of the 35-foot Christmas Tree at North Boulevard Town Square on Friday, December 4th at 6:00pm.

With the help of WAFB, the annual lighting of Baton Rouge's Christmas Tree will be aired live on Channel 9 at 6:10pm. Tune in as the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra Carolers will entertain the audience prior to Mayor-President Broome lighting the Christmas Tree at 6:15pm! Downtown will be buzzing with holiday spirit with lights along the Downtown Greenway on North Boulevard, Bayou Cirque roaming actors, Ice Skating at the River Center, and live entertainment along Third Street.

We  encourage you and your family to experience the holiday magic downtown this season! The Christmas Tree, located in North Boulevard Town Square, will be lit throughout the holiday season offering a perfect location for socially distanced photo ops! Check out the many downtown restaurants and museums that will have specials taking place this holiday season.

*Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the lighting this year will be a virtual event. There will be no food and beverage vendors as part of the festival and unfortunately we will not have fireworks or real snow for sledding.

* Many events in Baton Rouge have been proactively postponed or cancelled due to COVID-19. For the most up-to-date event information, please check with the specific event's website or social media pages.
