Does the movie, “Confessions of a Shopaholic” describe your life around the Holidays? Do you need to finish your Christmas shopping? The Red Stick’s massive shopping centers, pedestrian shops and quaint antique stores offer a memorable holiday shopping experience.
Several suggestions for all of your shopping needs:
Shopping and Entertainment- Check out Perkins Rowe if you’re looking for a unique residential and shopping village, housing retailers such as Urban Outfitters, Z Gallerie, Orvis, Barnes and Noble, BCBG, J. Crew and White House/ Black Market. While you’re in Perkins Rowe, grab lunch at one of the village’s restaurnats. I reccommend California Pizza Kitchen, The Grape or Kona Grill.
For A Little Something Different and Local- Antique lovers will enjoy shopping in a quaint atmosphere at Circa 1857 on Government Street. Circa 1857 offers a mix of new and old treasures with antiques, original art, and architectural salvage from around the world! Don’t forget to check out the Royal Standard and other boutiques underneath the Perkins Road overpass for antiques and gifts. Also, make the short drive to explore St. Francisville’s Ferdinand Street, which bustles with antique shops, old fashioned boutiques and cafés, bursting with the spirit of times gone by.
For a Relaxing Shopping Experience- Make your way to Towne Center at Cedar Lodge to shop in a relaxed and charming open-air marketplace. For localized boutique shopping, visit Mignon Faget and Pierre Crawdeaux. After all of this shopping, indulge in a spa treatment at the Bumble Lane Spa. Find perfect gifts at pping at Books-A-Million and the Whole Foods Market.
Large-Scale Shopping- You’ll enjoy shopping at 175 retail stores at the Mall of Louisiana, including Gap, Macy’s, Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Coach, Cache, Apple, Sephora, Borders and Dick’s Sporting Goods. You’re sure to work up an appetite from all of your shopping, so I reccomend B.J.’s Brew House, Raisin’ Cane’s in the Mall Food Court, J. Alexanders and Cheesecake Bistro as dinning options.
Outskirts of Town and Outdoor Shopping- Don’t forget about Tanger Outlet Mall in Gonzales, where you’ll find more than 60 brand name outlets! Sportsmen will enjoy exploring Cabela’s in Gonzales, featuring a 165, 000-sqaure-foot showroom that serves as an educational and entertainment attraction. In Denham Springs, the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World is a must-see. Part museum, part art gallery, part education conservation and entertainment center, the store offers equipment for hiking, backpacking, camping, outdoor cooking and more.
