Houmas House sits just off the levee banks of the winding Mississippi River behind an alley of gorgeous oak trees filled with Spanish moss to match. Here on this land the Houma Indians roamed and Top Chef Contestants competed for the final round. Houmas House displays exquisite gardens with beautiful fountains and wandering streams. Kevin Kelley purchased Houma’s House in 2003 and has over seen major renovations to the home. Houma’s House is truly a home where Mr. Kelley resides today.

Latil’s Landing Restaurant features fine Creole dining that will satisfy any taste bud. The house specialties include pumpkin crawfish and corn bisque, Bourbon spiced shrimp on a bed of peas and potatoes and rich creamy bread pudding. The pumpkin crawfish and corn bisque was a delightful rush of flavors to start the meal. Bread pudding is a Louisiana specialty, but at Houmas House it’s nothing short of amazing. When served warm, the bread pudding easily melts in your mouth. You’re natural reaction is simply, hmmmm.

As the old bell rings, visitors to Houmas House can gather to take a tour. The giant two story home with a Creole influenced wrap-around porch highlights the outer walls which are painted to look like marble. A large wooden oak front door reveals a colorful foyer with murals featuring native birds and insects to Louisiana. Spiraling staircases are found many places around the world, but at Houmas House it is special and unique. The second floor displays the bedroom of Bettie Davis during the movie Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte and Mr. Kelley’s personal bedroom that models the homes time period.  Along the tour guests are introduced to numerous antique collectible items.

Houmas House provides excellent space for business meetings or retreats and of course weddings. This is the perfect location to surprise your staff and enjoy the beauty of the land while getting work done!
