Visit Baton Rouge receives proclamations in honor of 50th anniversary

BATON ROUGE, La. – Visit Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish’s sole tourism agency, was given proclamations by city and state government officials in honor of its 50th anniversary this year.

Louisiana House Representatives C. Denise Marcelle and Barbara Freiberg presented their proclamation to President and CEO Paul Arrigo. Louisiana Senator Franklin Foil (pictured) presented the Senate’s proclamation to Arrigo.

Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome along with the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Council presented Arrigo, the Visit Baton Rouge team, and board members a proclamation during the metro council’s meeting in March to honor 50 years of excellence from the parish’s Destination Marketing Organization (DMO).

“We’d like to thank the house of representatives, the senate, the metro council, Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and of course the entire Baton Rouge community for the continued support throughout the years,” said Arrigo. “We are beyond thrilled to be turning 50 this year, and we’re excited to see where the next 50 years has in store.”

Since 1972, Visit Baton Rouge has helped promote local businesses, provide marketing and sales resources to local partners, attract visitors from around the world, and helped host major events to boost economic impact to the city. The DMO has seen several obstacles along the way, such as major floods, hurricanes, and the effects of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the challenges, Baton Rouge has adapted to safely continue being a host city for major events in previous years, such as the Bayou Country Superfest, the Marucci World Series, Miss USA in 2015, and this April, Garth Brooks’ Stadium Tour at Tiger Stadium.
