Visit Baton Rouge earns reaccreditation for outstanding industry excellence

Organization recognized with proclamation by Metro Council

BATON ROUGE, La. – Visit Baton Rouge has received its four-year Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) reaccreditation from Destinations International. This distinguished honor recognizes an organization’s commitment to industry excellence and meeting the industry standard for performance and accountability of destination marketing organizations around the world.

The accreditation program requires a destination organization to successfully comply with over 100 mandatory and voluntary standards that span a variety of performance areas to gain this achievement. The standards cover nearly all aspects related to the management and marketing of destination organizations including governance, finance, human resources, sales, communications, destination development and research.

“We are beyond proud to be able to call ourselves a DMAP certified organization,” said Jill Kidder, president and CEO of Visit Baton Rouge. “We always strive for excellence, and this recognition by Destinations International positions us as a valued and respected organization within our community and to people around the world.”

In honor of this achievement, the Visit Baton Rouge staff and board of directors were recognized with a proclamation at the Baton Rouge Metro Council meeting on Wednesday, August 23. The proclamation was given on behalf of Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and Councilman Rowdy Gaudet, who also serves on Visit Baton Rouge’s board of directors.

“Through their tireless efforts they have passionately showcased the essence of our vibrant and unique city to the world,” said Mayor Broome. “This reaccreditation is an honor and a testament to the collaborative spirit that defines Baton Rouge. I am extremely proud of our community’s commitment to making our city shine on the global stage.”
