Mid City Gras to kick off 2020 Carnival season with Grand Marshal reveal

The 2020 Carnival season will kick off Monday, January 6 and Mid City Gras is marking the date by revealing the grand marshal of its upcoming parade.

The event will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Baton Rouge Gallery, 1515 Dalrymple Dr. Representatives from the 2019 Grand Marshal, Front Yard Bikes, will pass the scepter and crown over to the 2020 Grand Marshal.

The third annual Mid City Gras Parade will be held at 1 p.m. February 16 on North Boulevard. It will start at the overpass and roll down to Baton Rouge Community College. The parade is a celebration for everyone who lives, works and plays in Mid City, designed to showcase the diversity of the community with a spirit of inclusiveness.

The second annual Mid City Gras Ball will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. February 1 at the Capital City Event Center, 6955 Florida Blvd. Tickets for the event can be purchased at https://bontempstix.com/events/Mid-City-Gras-Ball-2--1-2020. The ball is for revelers 21 and up. WHYR Community Radio will provide music for the party.

The theme for the 2020 parade and ball is 2020 Leagues Under the Sea.
