BATON ROUGE SOCCER CLUB SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR REGIONAL TOURNAMENT
Baton Rouge Soccer Club (BRSC) is currently seeking the assistance of volunteers for the upcoming 2019 US Youth Soccer National Championship Series. The National Championship Series will bring the top U13-U19 Boys/Girls soccer teams from 11 nearby states to the BREC Burbank Soccer Complex to compete for the right to advance to the national championships in July. BRSC requires the assistance of volunteers ages 13 and up June 15-27 to assist with gift bag assembly, field set up, team registration, player’s festival, hydration, field marshal, parking, concessions and more.
Food, water, parking passes, T-shirt, and a complimentary gift bag will be provided to all volunteers able to donate time to the event. Volunteers will also have their names placed in a drawing to win various prizes such as Visa gift certificates, Dick’s Sporting Goods gift cards, free soccer registration, and much more. Over 800 volunteer opportunities are available. Starting June 20th, the greater Baton Rouge area will be welcoming over 14,000 players, parents, coaches and soccer officials. Executive Director of Baton Rouge Soccer Club Louie Smothermon is looking forward to the impact of hosting this event will have on his club and community. “The Baton Rouge Soccer Club is honored to host the 2019 Southern Regionals,” said Smothermon. “We are looking forward to running a first-class event and showcasing some of the best youth soccer talent around. We will have the pleasure to show a taste of our Southern hospitality to over 220 teams, 4000 players, and 12,000 people in the city for upwards of a week. This event is a boon to the Greater Baton Rouge area businesses and the community at large.”
Baton Rouge last hosted the National Championship Series in 2014. Local restaurants, hotels, retail stores, and other businesses enjoyed over 14,000 visitors and an estimated 15 million dollars of economic impact to the city.
Regional winners of the U-13 through U-19 Boys and Girls brackets will play in the 2019 US Youth Soccer National Championships held in Overland Park, Kansas.
