Baton Rouge Live After Five!
Live After Five in Baton Rouge is an event hosted by the Downtown Business Association that takes place every spring and fall with different
genres of music. The concert series is held every year to entice people to visit and journey through downtown Baton Rouge. Visitors then have the opportunity to visit with the local merchants and their businesses in a
fun and relaxed atmosphere. The Live After Five concert series helps
promote and support downtown projects and improvements to help attract and support new businesses in the downtown area.
Prior to Fall 2006, Live After Five consisted of six concerts in the spring and six in the fall. Mayor Holden decided that six per season was simply not enough so he added an extra concert in the fall of 2006 and then there were seven.
Excited by the success of the outdoor concert series, the Mayor took it one step further and decided that the series should be extended by two concerts each season. So, in 2008 the City of Baton Rouge and the office of the Mayor-President have supported the addition of four more concerts per year. Now there will be eight concerts in the spring and eight in the fall bringing the total to 16 concerts!
Music artists come together for eight weeks starting April 09, 2010 and ending May 28, 2010 to perform live music in downtown Baton Rouge every Friday after 5 at the beautiful Galvez Plaza. Live After Five is a free event that is open to all so check it out!
