Rouge Orleans 

The Rouge-Orleans is a 100+ mile Ultra-Marathon and Team Relay that starts in the capital city of Baton Rouge and Finishes in Audubon Park in New Orleans. The run coincides with the Mardi Gras carnival season, so runners are not only treated to a great run, but also the most unique after party on the planet. Participants will run on top of the levee and follow the mighty Mississippi as it meanders its way 126.2 miles down to New Orleans.  Running alongside old farms, plantations, sugarcane fields, swamps, and of course the river will give runners a chance to see Southern Landscapes at their purest.  For additional information visit www.rougeorleans.com.

Second Saturday: Name that Artwork!

I can name that artwork in three clues.  Based on the old favorite "Name that Tune."  Visitors see who can recognize an artwork with the fewest number of clues.  Be careful not to overestimate your powers of deduction - the consequences could lead to serious laughter.  Bring a "Take-and-Make" home to create your own artwork inspired by your museum visit.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  "Take-and-Make" supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Groups of 10 or more who would like to participate in the Second Saturday programs are encouraged to email education curator, Lara Gautreau to make a reservation at lgaut@lsu.edu. Life and Landscapes along Louisiana Highway #1

Exhibit visually describes a story of Louisiana about life and landscapes between the Louisiana- Arkansas border and Grand Isle, Louisiana. Members of the AWA traveled along LA Highway #1 with sketchbooks and cameras to record places and people along the historic highway. Sometimes the artists chose to paint plein air and other times they painted back in their studios. The artists found many scenes to paint, including sugar cane fields, farm buildings, waterways, and quaint shops and homes from a bygone era. An opening reception, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Saturday, January 14 from 2pm to 4pm.
