If you're new to LSU, here's what you need to know:

We bleed purple and gold in this state, yes, BLEED purple and gold!

Let's talk about the food, because it's amazing and people are happy to share-ask for jambalya or boudin!

Boudin is a heavenly combination of rice, spices, and meat in a casing that resembles sausage (you can also fry it for boudin balls). Jambalaya is a spicy combination of rice, chicken and sausage flavored to perfection, which leads to my next observation.

We fry everything, but gator is our specialty! However, for the Arkansas vs. LSU game, you're sure to find several hogs roasting around campus! Be sure to experience the capital city of tailgating- you'll hear all types of music and enjoy good times with your friends.

Speaking of music, watching the Golden Band from Tigerland march down the hill in front of Mike the Tiger's Cage on their way into the stadium is a gameday must-see! And don't even talk about the pre-game show...Tiger fans will go crazy with excitement!

The parties will continue after the game-especially after a win! There will be live bands at restaurants and bars. Tailgaters will still be out eating and watching the game re-plays, so pull up a seat and watch their tv's or put your dancing shoes on and go out.

If you're looking for a late-night snack, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers are always a hit, and Louis Cafe is open 24 hours a day (enough said). On Sunday morning, try Coffee Call on College Drive for great beignets!
