Get ready say farewell to 2013 in ring in 2014 at the first annual New Year’s Eve celebration—Red Stick Revelry! This free event offers a variety of events for families New Year's Eve day and adults later that evening in downtown Baton Rouge's North Boulevard Town Square. 

New Year's Eve Day-For the Family | 11am - 12pm at Town Square:
  • The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge and local artists will provide hands-on activities for kids on the Town Square lawn.
  • Robby Wilson, Assistant Director of the Louisiana Book Festival, will perform the “Legend of the Red Stick”, a story for all ages that tells how the City of Baton Rouge got its name.
  • Steve Hood with Geaux Body Fitness Studio will provide free lessons to learn the “Red Stick Revelry” line dance and a warm-up routine to the song to help revelers get started on New Year’s resolutions to lead a more active and healthy lifestyle. 
  • At noon, Mayor Holden and others will lead participants in singing Auld Lang Syne for “Red Stick Rising”, when the Red Stick is raised into place 60 feet in the air for the midnight drop. 
New Year’s Eve Night | 9pm – 12am at Town Square
  • Phat Hat performs live in Town Square
  • Food and beverages will be available for purchase
  • Dropping of the Red Stick and Fireworks at the stroke of midnight

Get an early start and download Red Stick Revelry! The official song for the event, written by Wendell Woods and performed by the band Phat Hat, is now available on iTunes. You can catch the music video airing on the beacon in downtown Baton Rouge's North Boulevard Town Square throughout the holidays.  

Can't make it out to the event? WAFB-TV will broadcast the Red Stick drop at Town Square live with a special half-hour program airing from 11:35pm until 12:05am.
