Caroline Durieux: A Radioactive Wit Exhibition
Time: 9:00
AM - 5:00 PM
From the smoky bistros of Mexico to the street of New Orleans, no one escaped the satirical eye of artist Caroline Durieux. This retrospective, drawn primarily from the collection of the LSU Museum of Art, will celebrate Durieux’s prolific career. Included in this exhibition is a wide range of topics, from her astute observations of South American society to her satirical representations of upper crust New Orleans. Durieux was also an innovator in technique. She improved upon the cliché-verre technique, popularized by the Barbizon artists. Perhaps her most interesting contribution to the field was the development of the electron print, which employed nuclear energy.
